The Lyric Theatre Singers are delighted to invite members of the media to Candlelight Christmas 2025. Ushering in the Holiday season from December 4th to 7th with a range of musical styles from a playful and intricate arrangement of The Twelve Days of Christmas, to a moving piece popularised by the Gospel Inspirational Voices, a traditional South African carol, and much more, this inspiring program promises to delight music lovers of all generations.

Montreal audiences are invited to ignite the holiday season with the beloved tradition of Candlelight Christmas concert series, presented by the Lyric Theatre Singers. From Thursday, December 4 to Sunday, December 7, the vocal ensemble will fill the enchanting Loyola Chapel at Concordia University with a radiant programme of timeless and contemporary carols. With four performances across the weekend, this concert offers the perfect start to the season.
Under the artistic and musical direction of Bob Bachelor, The Lyric Theatre Singers have for over three decades, crafted a signature holiday experience combining musical excellence, joy and community spirit. For the past 35 years, this annual concert has become a staple for Montrealers seeking a break from the rush and the chance to reflect through song. The combination of cherished carols, rich vocal harmonies, and the chapel’s warm ambience creates an evening that feels both intimate and grand, a shared celebration of music and festivity.

“I did not consciously plan the concert to inspire hope, but I think that is what comes through naturally. People are affected by the state of the world, and my hope is that this event gives them relief from all the noise – a few hours of warmth and joy.” Bob Bachelor, Artistic & Musical Director – The Lyric Theatre Singers
The program showcases a range of musical styles and moods, highlighting both the singers’ versatility and Bob Bachelor’s trust in the ensemble. Audiences can expect to experience everything from contemporary arrangements by acclaimed choral arrangers Andy Beck and Mac Huff, to a moving piece popularized by the Gospel Inspirational Voices, and even a traditional South African carol that celebrates the power of communal song. The concert also features a playful and intricate arrangement of The Twelve Days of Christmas, a true test of vocal precision and stamina. This blend of challenging repertoire and diverse influences reflects the ensemble’s commitment to offering audiences a rich and eclectic musical experience.
Matching the Singers’ musicianship and complementing their voices are musicians Robin Chemtov (piano), Tim Malloch (flute), Sheila Hannigan (cello), Kyra Charlton (harp) and Guillaume Pilote (percussion).
Once again this year, money donations on behalf of food bank THE DÉPÔT will be gratefully accepted at all four performances.
