Wolf von Langa’s Serendipity+ speakers, paired with Burmester and LampizatOr electronics, delivered transparent, fluid sound with natural tone and texture—proof that high-end performance can come in compact form.
They say good things come in small packages, and I was reminded of that by the system in this room. It wasn’t small, per se, but compact enough to fit comfortably in most living spaces—while sounding decidedly high-end.
The system comprised a Matrix Audio NT-1 digital transport ($5,990); a LampizatOr Genya DAC ($25,990); a Burmester 232 integrated amplifier (from $35,000); and a pair of Wolf von Langa Serendipity+ speakers ($15,390/pair) on matching oak stands ($2,600/pair). The Serendipity uses a Purifi woofer and a Mundorf AMT tweeter, along with side-firing passive radiators to extend bass response. Cabling was Cardas Clear throughout. Also on display—but not playing during my visit—was a LampizatOr Atlantic 3 TRP DAC ($9,700).
On the two tracks I heard, one by Buddy Guy and the other by the Tarkovsky Quartet, the sound was transparent, spacious, and organically fluid, with natural tone, glistening texture, and a microdynamic sense of touch.
