The Audio Note room was buzzing—with string tone! On cellist Vincent Bélanger’s new CD Songe—a fantastic release, musically and sonically—the cello and violin sounded gorgeous: rich, reverberant, lusciously textured. Vocals and harp sounded at once grounded and ethereal, earthy and celestial—with touch and tone leading the way.
As usual, the system was all Audio Note, down to the cabling. The system I heard included a pair of AN-E/SPx Ltd speakers ($$97,000/pair), a Jinro integrated amp ($53,000), and a CD 4.1x CD player ($24,900). Not playing while I was there was an analogue front-end consisting of a TT3 turntable + PS3 power supply ($27,500), an Arm 3 tonearm ($5250), and an I0 II cartridge ($12,550).
