Toronto Audiofest 2024: Ruark

Toronto Audiofest 2024: Ruark

Our visit to the Ruark room began with a friendly welcome from Jeff and Richard, and from the moment we entered, the display of Ruarkโ€™s signature design philosophy was evident.

Our first encounter was with the Sabre-R bookshelf speakers, whose minimalist, retro-inspired look immediately caught our eye. These compact speakers, with their 70โ€™s vibe, offer a surprising auditory experience. Despite their modest size, the Sabre-R delivers an impressive and wide soundstage. The speakers radiate a naturally rich tone, making every track an immersive experience. The clarity they provide makes them an excellent choice for anyone looking to enjoy music in its purest form, without sacrificing style.

R610 Console

Moving on, we explored the R610 console. With 75 watts per channel, this beautifully crafted piece is more than just an amplifier; itโ€™s a gateway to musical rediscovery. The RotoDial controller, an iconic element of Ruarkโ€™s design since 2006, offers intuitive control while adding a nostalgic touch. The R610 also embraces physical music formats, with a high-quality phono stage for turntable enthusiasts and an upcoming companion, the R-CD100 Compact Disc Player, for CD playback. In addition, the HDMI ARC/eARC connection ensures high-quality audio for movies and TV, bringing cinema-like sound into your living room.

R810 High Fidelity Radiogram

Finally, we had the pleasure of testing the all-in-one R810 High Fidelity Radiogram. With its all-encompassing connectivity, the R810 is designed to handle any media you throw at it. Streaming is this systemโ€™s strength, but vinyl and CDs are equally at home here, thanks to the phono inputs and USB-C connectivity for a CD-ROM drive.

The aesthetics are simply captivating, with a walnut veneer cabinet and grille, also available in a soft grey with walnut option. Made from sustainable woods, the R810 also comes with both long and short legs, so it can easily find its place anywhere in your home. This radiogram delivers a spacious and effortless soundstage, filling your home with beautiful, rich sound that feels timeless yet fresh.

We left the Ruark room with big smiles, happy ears, and a genuine sense of awe, so much so that we found ourselves back the next day, eager to experience it all over again.
