Pro-Ject’s “Dark Side Of The Moon” Turntable, SHAPED LIKE THE ALBUM’S ICONIC ARTWORK

In commemoration of the 50th anniversary of one of the most iconic and influential albums to have landed on the lit side of the Earth, turntable manufacturer Pro-Ject has unveiled its limited edition Pink Floyd Dark Side Of The Moon record player, the latest model in the companyโ€™s Artist Series. The turntable is, after all, the springboard-product that launched DSOTM into the smoky, low-hung stratospheres of millions of dingy basements across the world. The bandโ€™s eighth studio album, DSOTM has sold 45 million copies since its release on March 17, 1973.

Just as famous as the music on the album is the albumโ€™s cover, with its picture of the rainbow-reflecting prism created by Storm Thorgerson of Hipgnosis and George Hardie as an homage to the psychedelic light show that had become synonymous with a Pink Floyd concert. Not only has this homage been reproduced on the turntable, it has been sculpted into its design. With its prism-shaped plinth and LED backlit rainbow extension, the turntable doesnโ€™t just portray the rainbow-reflecting prism, it is the rainbow-reflecting prism. It is the artwork.

Turntable features designed to deliver the albumโ€™s trademark sound effects and timeless melodies in high-immersion sound include a unique 8.6-inch acrylic tonearm design with a spring anti-skate system and a heavy 10 mm glass platter combined with a solid aluminium sub platter. The turntable is handmade in Europe.

Pro-Jectโ€™s limited edition DSOTM turntable is not only a collectorโ€™s item intended to enhance your listening (and visual) pleasure of DSOTM, itโ€™s designed to make all your records sound just as good.

The DSOTM turntable is currently available for special order and will begin shipping from Pro-Jectโ€™s Austrian plant to Canada in early November. Retail price is CA$ 2699, and will include the arm, cartridge, and heady musical vibes.
