Victor Sima, born in Montreal, Quebec, was a pioneering figure in the high-fidelity audio industry. In 1980, he founded Sima Electronics, later rebranded as Simaudio, with a mission to deliver high-performance music reproduction without unnecessary embellishments. Initially focusing on professional audio equipment, Sima’s designs quickly garnered acclaim among audiophiles for their exceptional sound quality and value.
In the 1990s, under Sima’s leadership, Simaudio introduced the Celeste series, featuring the proprietary “Renaissance” circuitry. This innovation emphasized a balanced design with minimal feedback, resulting in products celebrated for their elegant aesthetics and transparent sonic signature.
Sima’s commitment to audio excellence laid the foundation for Simaudio’s evolution into the MOON brand, recognized globally for quality and innovation. His contributions were instrumental in putting Quebec’s hi-fi scene on the map, inspiring a generation of audiophiles and creators in Canada and beyond. His legacy endures in the company’s dedication to high-fidelity sound and minimalist design.
Victor Sima passed away recently, with his funeral held on Sunday, November 17, 2024, at Back River Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Berri. He is survived by his wife, Kim Vo; his daughters, Célestina and Yolane; son-in-law, Mahyar Ahmadi; and granddaughter, Mia Sima-Ahmadi.
