Harman International, a subsidiary of Samsung Electronics, has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Masimo’s consumer audio division, Sound United, for $350 million in cash. This acquisition includes renowned audio brands such as Bowers & Wilkins, Denon, Marantz, Polk Audio, Classé, HEOS, and others. The deal is expected to close by the end of 2025, pending regulatory approvals.
This move aligns with Harman’s strategy to expand its footprint in the global consumer audio market, which is projected to grow from $60.8 billion in 2025 to $70 billion by 2029.
Masimo Refocuses on Core Healthcare Business
The divestiture of its consumer audio division allows Masimo to concentrate on its core professional healthcare segment. According to Masimo’s CEO, Katie Szyman, this strategic move is aimed at allocating resources to areas of unmet clinical need.
These developments mark a significant shift for both companies, with Masimo honing its focus on healthcare innovation and Harman strengthening its position in the A/V and audio market.
